Why don’t diets work? All diets are flawed and none can be sustained long term. You’re not alone; 98% of all diets fail. If they did work, new ones would not be constantly popping up. Keeping weight off can be harder than losing it in the first place. So remember, if you have tried numerous diets and have failed, it is not your fault.

There is more diet advice, diets, gyms, exercise programs, dvd’s, online courses, blogs etc., now than there ever has been, yet there are more overweight people than there ever has been. So how do you sift through all is information and find what is right for you?

It is a holistic approach, with so many aspects to think about;

  • The type of food you eat.
  • The type of eater you are.
  • The amount of food you eat.
  • What you drink.
  • The exercise you do.
  • Your metabolism.
  • Your attitude and mindset.
  • Your pattern/habits.
  • The support you get.


Whew! It is exhausting just thinking about it. But, don’t despair it is a long way from impossible.

Don’t fall into the trap of justifying your weight increase. EG “It’s just the way I am.” “It must be ok as there are so many overweight people out there.” “I like my fat.” “I’m so used to it now, it doesn’t bother me.” “Nothing works for me.”  “All the clothes I’ve bought are bigger and I have to wear them.” Wrong! This is not just about carrying extra kilos; this is about your health, your longevity, your quality of life and your self-esteem. While it is absolutely ok to be curvy and your ideal weight, (you do not have to be a size 8,) it is not ok to put yourself at risk by being over your healthy, ideal weight.
